"I knew coming into the season it was going to be that way. Basically, Schwartz was just trying to get by. He changed the way his weight was distributed. Schwartz attempted to use his hands to get on guys and he was run blocking different. With one significant body part weakened, he wasn't moving as fluently as he'd done in the past. But during the season, without full trust in his feet, Schwartz's hands didn't always work as well as he'd have liked. After getting shot, he felt better - and played better - against the Bucs, when the Giants shut down Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. Schwartz struggled against the Eagles, Cowboys and Saints. His play dipped after the 49ers game, when the nerve problem in his foot surfaced. That is not going to change now." Schwartz was able to see when he watched film this past season that, at times, he just wasn't right. But when I'm healthy, I'm a very good football player. I hope they see that is what I went through. It's hard to play in those situations, and I did. Then I had some issues with the nerves in my foot where I didn't feel my foot for three games. I was never able to train fully in the offseason," Schwartz said on Thursday on radio row during the leadup to Super Bowl 50. "I was never able to train fully in the offseason. Was my ankle healthy? Yeah, the joint itself was fine but I spent my whole offseason rehabbing, got to 80 percent and it goes downhill when you start playing. I don't read a lot about it but I know what I went through last year. It's not a situation Schwartz hasn't contemplated.
